                  SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

WHO WE ARE:

I’m Janice Bairstow, a Health and Fitness Practitioner and an Exercise Physiologist with a  BSc(Honours) degree in Health-Related Fitness from Leeds Metropolitan University which incorporates Carnegie College, a renowned Exercise and Sport training facility. The Fitness  Factor is my business and I specialise in Personal Training and Group Exercise Teaching for Health-Related Fitness. (That is any planned exercise or activity which helps to promote or bring about an improvement in the health of an individual or prevent a potential problem occurring). From time to time I enlist the help of associates who are geographically better placed to offer our services, or more expert in certain aspects of training.

My 20 years experience in the fitness industry has led me to work with clients from all walks of life helping them to achieve their particular goals. I have had clients who are obese, overweight, injured, elderly, disabled, and pregnant. There have been some with serious medical conditions and others with muscular and joint problems. I also have and still do, train people for specific events. If you are serious about making changes in your lifestyle and need help and motivation, then one of our individually planned programmes could be just what you are looking for.

WHAT WE DO:

The Fitness Factor is a mobile business and I work with clients in their own homes or places of work. The majority of people I see are either new to exercise, are uncomfortable with a fitness centre environment for one reason or another, or have been injured or ill. I work within a half hour driving distance to enable me to see as many clients as possible. There are many people out there who will not brave the intimidation of the gym or the swimming pool, yet these are the people who may most need help and support. It is not necessary to have expensive, complicated machines or to lift heavy weights to become fitter and stronger. Simple household items can easily take the place of training equipment. I do carry some tools of the trade around with me but they are inexpensive and easy to store  for those people who want to buy their own.

WHY WE DO IT:

There could be many reasons why health and fitness becomes an issue. You may be injured and need to rehabilitate.  You may be overweight or obese and at risk of the associated conditions discussed on the  page. You may have had a baby, been ill, or have postural problems. You may need to improve your mobility and flexibility, or you may just want to keep generally fit, with a good level of stamina and strength.

If you are serious about changing your lifestyle and need help, encouragement and support, with either exercise and/or nutritional help, then look no further!
