I'm Tracy, I have a severe back problem and I am 38 years old
For six years I suffered excruciating back pain without any proper relief. In a desperate effort to finally cure the condition I underwent spinal surgery a little over two years ago. After the operation I was given a printed exercise programme and told to go to the gym. I tried to go as regularly as I could, but each session was torture; the exercise increased the pain and life became more and more difficult each day.
Just over 2 years ago I started seeing Janice. She immediately recognised that most of the things I had been doing were totally inappropriate and indeed were likely to cause further harm and even the exercises that were suitable I had been doing incorrectly. Janice devised a simple programme involving gentle movement and stretching. This did not cause any pain but did improve my mobility. With her support, encouragement and positivity, I have slowly improved to a point where I have increased my strength, balance and co-ordination. I can walk tall and my posture and stability have changed for the better.For the past year we have been working on improving my cardiovascular fitness to help me lose weight, something that was impossible initially. Amazingly, I have now lost over 2 stones
Janice has an amazing knowledge of physiology and exercise which enables her to explain everything in a simple way. She helped me to understand what each exercise does and why it is so important to do them correctly. She adapts my exercise programme to allow me to do the exercises in a way that will not aggravate my condition.
I now have fewer bad days and the quality of my life is continuing to improve. I still have a long way to go but with Janice's help I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

My name is Jennifer and I am 59 years old
In January 2004 I had health worries which were attributed to my being overweight and totally unfit. These issues had to be resolvedif my health was to improve but I was physically inactive and haddone no form of exercise for years. For these reasons I was reluctant to join a gym or an exercise class. I decided a Personal Trainer was the answer and contacted Janice. Right from the start I knew it was going to be hardwork but Janice talked me through what we were going to do and why. She took measurements and checked my body fat and made a note of the Doctor's findings regarding my cholesterol, blood sugar level, and blood pressure reading. The exercise programme she planned for me included both cardiovascular and toning exercises with recommendations that I also increase my daily activity levels, for example, walking to work whenever possible.
Within a few weeks, my measurements began to decrease and I then started to seriously address my diet. Janice gave me a lot of help and understanding and my weight started to come down. The training was hard work but I started to feel good about myself again and what's more other people started to notice the difference in me. I was never pushed beyond my capability and after several months I felt confident enough to join one of Janice's group exercise classes which I thoroughly enjoyed and presently still attend. Janice gave me lots of support and encouragement all the way and after one year I had lost two stones in weight and over 32". I then joined a second exercise class - a circuit training class, which I found exciting as well as enjoyable and hard work, though I was still able to work at my own level, and which I also still attend.
Janice is a true professional and totally devoted to her profession. Her knowledge and understanding of each individual's needs is second to none and I would recommend her to anyone of any age group.

I'm Brenda, I'm 64 and a rock n' roll enthusiast!
I have known Janice as a personal trainer for nine years. I first came into contact with her when I was looking for a way to exercise without further exacerbating a progressive condition called Vertebral Basilar Insufficiency. This condition was causing very restricted movement in my neck and I could not lift my arms much above shoulder level. In addition I also became dizzy and unbalanced.
She prescribed a series of gentle strengthening and stretching exercises to be done regularly under her careful instruction. Within months my neck mobility, strength and posture had improved. This meant an increased blood flow to the brain so my dizzy spells lessened. I can now turn my head 45 degrees to each side and can place each of my arms over my shoulder and down my back.
I also had an old knee injury which made me walk with my right foot out and at an angle. As a result of leg exercises I was prescribed I now walk with my foot relatively straight. My stamina and strength have returned to the level they were at before my diagnosis and I have lost the excess weight I had gained through inactivity. I can now indulge in my love of Rock and Roll on a regular basis.
I am eternally grateful for all Janice's efforts to get me fit, healthy and active again and she is now a part of my lifestyle.

I'm Phil and I am 65 years old
Janice has been my personal trainer for five years, from the first day of my retirement and my sixtieth birthday.
To say that my time with Janice has been beneficial to me would be an understatement! Having purely concentrated on building my company over a period of thirty years, my general health and exercise had been the furthest thing from my mind, so much so that at the time of my retirement I was grossly overweight and had been referred to a specialist due to severe breathing problems.
On my first meeting with Janice, she took notes of my health status, adding those from the doctor which were pertinent and questioned me about my eating and drinking habits and general lifestyle. She then gave me a food diary to fill in over the coming week and recommended that I went for a walk each day, That was fairly easy to carry out as dog-walking was already an activity. On our next meeting she took me through a programme of gentle exercises which incorporated both cardiovascular work and muscle toning and strengthening. She also showed me some stretches to do every day as my flexibility and mobility was impaired with years of driving.
After a couple of months I suggested we add another session as I had become really focused on getting fit and was feeling so much bettter.
After six months I had lost 28lbs in weight and with Janice's help and varied and intermittent changes to the exercise programme I have managed to maintain my new weight up to the present time.
I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Janice to anyone if health-related fitness is an important issue to them.
